SlideDeckMaker: questions and answers

What is SlideDeckMaker?
SlideDeckMaker is an AI presentation maker. Give it a prompt, a document or a web page and it writes a deck, doc or one-page website you can edit, present, share with analytics and export to PowerPoint.
Is SlideDeckMaker free?
Yes. Every feature is free. A few paid engines (the Claude fallback and Sarvam voice-over) are charged from a prepaid balance at exactly what they cost us. With no balance, the free path runs instead.
What costs money?
Only paid third-party engines: Claude ($2 / $10 per million tokens in / out, used only when our own AI fails a quality check) and Sarvam voice-over (₹30 per 10,000 characters). Our own AI, exports, sharing and analytics are free.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Sign up with an email and password and start making decks.
Can I edit the PowerPoint file afterwards?
Yes. Titles go into real title placeholders, bullets are real bullets, and charts and tables are native PowerPoint objects with their data, so you can keep editing in PowerPoint or Google Slides.
Can it use my company's PowerPoint template?
Yes. Upload your .pptx or .potx on the Brand page. We read its colours, fonts, background and logo, and you can export decks onto your own slide master and layouts.
Where do the numbers on my slides come from?
Turn on faithful mode when you give a source. Every number on every slide is matched to your file and shown with the exact quote; numbers we cannot find are removed and listed.
Which files can I start from?
PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Markdown, plain text, HTML and CSV, or a public web page by URL. CSV and table data become native charts with your exact values.
Which export formats are there?
Editable PowerPoint (also onto your company template), PDF (with or without speaker notes), PNG images, a single HTML file, Google Slides (when the Google connection is set up) and an MP4 video.
Can I share a deck and see who read it?
Yes. Create one link per audience, optionally with a password or an email gate, and see views, time per slide and how far people got.
Can my team edit together?
Yes. Invite teammates as admins, editors or viewers. Edits appear live for everyone, with comments and replies on each slide.
Can I make documents and web pages too?
Yes. The same content can be a deck, a doc or a one-page website, and you can publish web pages on your own domain.
Is there an API?
Yes. Create an API key in Settings and use POST /api/v1/decks to generate decks from your own app. It is free like the rest of the product.
Can I present from the browser?
Yes. Present full screen with speaker notes, a timer, the next slide and an audience window for a second screen.
Can I make a video of my deck?
Yes. Speaker notes become narration and the deck becomes an MP4. Voice uses Sarvam, charged at cost; without a balance the video is silent with captions.
Which AI writes my decks?
Our own AI model running on Surge's GPU server. A commercial model (Claude) is used only if ours fails a quality check, and only if you have a pay-as-you-go balance.
Do you train AI on my files?
No. Your files are used only to make your deck.
Which languages are supported?
English today. Indian-language decks are built but switched off for now.
How is it different from Gamma?
It is free (Gamma's plans are about $12 and $25 a month, estimated), exports PowerPoint that stays editable, traces every number to your source, and can export onto your company's own template.
How do I get help?
Ask the assistant at the bottom right of any page, or email [email protected]. The assistant can pass your question to a person.
